Marathon Training: Week 2
Week 1 of marathon training is officially in the books! Doug and I traveled back to NY this week for my bridal shower, so it was definitely a busy week. Even though it may have been a little busier than I had anticipated, I still got my planned weekly mileage in of 15.1 miles.
Here's how Week 1 training went:
Monday 6/26: 3-mile morning run (Total time: 28:46 | Pace: 9:28/mile)
Tuesday 6/27: 25 minute HIIT workout
Wednesday 6/28: 3-mile morning run (Total time: 29:21 | Pace: 9:37/mile) and 3-mile evening run (Total time: 25:44 | Pace: 8:26/mile); Even though I broke it up into two runs, I counted this as my 6-mile long run for the week.
Thursday 6/29: 25 minutes of strength training
Friday 6/30: 5k run (Total time: 29:48 | Pace: 9:29/mile)
Saturday 7/1: Rest day / Bridal Shower! (See some pictures from the day here.)
Sunday 7/2: 3-mile evening run (Total time: 28:34 | Pace: 9:22/mile)
What I learned from Week 1: Be flexible. Your schedule may not go exactly as planned and your runs may have to be moved around, but it's okay. Even when traveling, you can make your schedule work for you.
As I head into Week 2, I'll still be out of town and out of my normal routine, but I'll adjust. This is what I have planned for my workouts during my week of traveling:
