Marathon Training: Week 5
Week 4 was a scorcher (literally)! The weather was in the mid to upper 90s pretty much all week with crazy humidity. AKA less than ideal running conditions. My pace was definitely feeling the heat when I completed my planned weekly mileage of 17.1 miles. Is it too early to say I'm ready for fall weather?
Here's how Week 4 training went:
Monday 7/17: 5 mile morning run (Total Time: 50:31 | Pace: 10:06/mile)
Tuesday 7/18: Rest
Wednesday 7/19: 20 minutes of strength training & approx. 11-mile bike ride. Doug and I love to ride our beach cruisers around Charlotte. It's such a cool way to see the city!
Thursday 7/20: Rest
Friday 7/21: 3.1 mile morning run (Total Time: 29:32 | Pace: 9:30/mile) & approx. 8-mile bike ride
Saturday 7/22: 9 mile morning run (Total Total: 1:31:48 | Pace: 10:12/mile)
Sunday 7/23: 1-hour hike
What I learned from Week 4: Stay hydrated! Alright, I didn't learn that this week, but I was reminded of it during these dog days of summer. I always bring water with me on my long runs just in case I don't run past any water fountains. But it's important to remember to hydrate not only during your run but before and after too.
Here's what I have planned for Week 5:
