I'm Teaching a Skillshare Class!

Here's one thing I thought I’d never say…I’m a teacher!

Yup, that’s right. As a self-proclaimed lifelong student, I’m flipping the script and sharing my knowledge. It wasn’t until Skillshare reached out a few months ago that I even considered teaching, well, anything.

If you’re not familiar, Skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of classes from design to business and beyond. It’s super approachable, and anyone can join to learn new skills and discover new opportunities. Once you sign up for a subscription, the possibilities are endless.

So when they reached out to ask if I’d teach a class, my brain started spinning. What would I teach? What would my class project be? Am I even qualified to teach?

A lot of ideating later, I landed on a topic. One that I know firsthand, “How to Freelance Your Way to a New Career.”

Having recently made the leap from accounting to marketing, I knew I had words of wisdom to share. So with some planning and lots of awkward videos later, I created a class!

“How to Freelance Your Way to a New Career” walks you through how to identify the skills you need to develop to take you from Job A to Job B. We walk through a class project that includes exploratory questions so you can dig deep into what it is you want and how you’re going to get there. The class wraps up by discussing the facts of what it will take for you to leave your current job to get you into the position you want.

It’s the same thought processes I went through throughout my career transition summed up in thirty minutes.

I’m so excited for this new adventure! It has definitely taken me outside of my comfort zone. It’s not perfect by any means, but my hope is that if even one person finds value in what I have to say, it’ll be worth it.
