Date Night at Aerial CLT

For Valentine's Day, Doug and I usually keep it low-key. A homemade meal and a movie is our go-to. This year we hadn't really talked about our plans when I stumbled upon a unique date night involving my new found love: aerial.

I practice at Aerial CLT where they offer Silks, Lyra, and Trapeze classes. It's an amazing experience that got me really outside of my comfort zone. And plus, it's so much fun!

I saw on their Instagram that they were offering a wine, chocolate, and aerial workshop for Valentine's Day. It was perfect! I almost signed us up before even asking if Doug was interested. When I did ask and he said he would absolutely do it. I was so excited. I believe his actual response was, "Don't be mad when I'm amazing at it." LOL, okay.

The workshop was this past Saturday. I had been feeling pretty under the weather for the past couple of days, but since they had a no cancellation policy, I rested up and hoped for the best.

When we arrived, the setup at the studio was so cute!  Each couple got to claim their own Silk and they had a mat set up as a table for our wine and chocolate.

The premise of the night went: learn a move and then celebrate with wine and chocolate. My kind of celebration.

We got to try some solo moves, like this one where we inverted upside down and looked like butterflies. But the majority of the night was partner moves.

The moves were designed to help us connect with our partner, and whether intended or not, have a few laughs along the way.

It was a lot of fun and definitely shook up the standard date night. If they offer this class again, I would highly recommend it.

Check out this video for some of the partner moves we learned.
