Four Pieces of Life Advice for the Spring Season

Life is hard. There are moments that will bring us down, people that will tear us down, and negative thoughts that will keep us there. There’s no way to sugar coat it that bad days are inevitable. But when life gets us down because of relationships or work, we have to remember how amazing life is. We have to remember how fortunate we are to be on this earth spreading joy and sharing our gift with others.

Seeing the good in things can be really difficult when we’re stressed or sad or burnt out or angry. This can seem especially difficult during the holiday season when it’s easy to let our highs get to high and our lows get a little too low.

As we head into the Spring season, use these statements as reminders that life is beautiful and it’s everything you make it.

You're always a good investment.

You're worth it. Always. If you’re wondering if you should go back to school or take a class to learn a new skill. The answer is yes. It’s so important to take the time to investment in ourselves. As humans and professionals, we owe it to ourselves to take the time to learn. This helps us to grow and evolve into better friends, better employees, and better versions of ourselves. So the next time you’re wanting to do something or try something new, do it. Take the time to do what you want so you can become your best self.

Your definition of success is unique to you.

In age of social media, it’s so hard not to get caught up in a constant game of comparison. This person is successful because they have this degree, so I should too. Or they’re married and have a child on the way and I don’t even have a boyfriend, I’m so behind in life. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others and define what success means to us.

Take a moment to think about how you define success. Do you want a big house with fancy cars and two kids? If not, then why are you comparing your life to sometime who defines their success that way. Success to you may mean financially stability, a modest career, and accepting that you’re constantly working to figure out what you want. So stop comparing your personal and professional feats to someone who is writing a completely different story.

Your happiness is the most important.

How many times have we passed on doing something we wanted to do to make someone else happy? Often, it’s more times than we’d like to admit. Why is it that on our ever growing to-do lists of life, we prioritize our tasks, but never our happiness? We get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and forget to do things that make us happy, and instead do things because we need to or are told to. We need to remember to put ourselves first and never sacrifice our happiness. When we’re happy and are the best versions of ourselves, our relationships and our work will thrive.

You are right where you’re supposed to be.

Everything really does happen for a reason. Each and everyone of us are on our own timeline. Trust it and yourself. While at face value you may seem to be comparable to your friends or co-workers, everyone's on their own paths encountering their own circumstances that life throws their way. Trust that you are exactly where you need to be at this moment. Everything will happen in due time, when it’s meant to; not any sooner or any later. Be present and really soak up the moment.
