What I've Been Working On This Year

What a year it’s been! 2020 stared off super slow with what felt like the longest January on record and then the Coronavirus pandemic hit. Through it all, I’ve been literally growing a human inside of me and learning to navigate all the changes pregnancy brings while planning for parenting. It’s been an interesting year so far, to say the least.

The one thing that has remained somewhat constant (for which I’ve very thankful) throughout it all is my work. I’ve been lucky enough to have multiple outlets to dedicate my attention to, which has served as great learning experiences and also a welcomed distraction during what is now week 7 of quarantine.

Since I’ve been all baby and no work (talk) on the blog, I wanted to share what I’ve been up to.

At My Day Job

If you read my annual recap, you know that I briefly mentioned that I started a new job this past fall. I’m going on seven months in my new position as a Corporate Communications Specialist at a Fortune 500 automotive retailer. The position is a culmination of all of the work I’ve put in over the years to find the right career fit. It’s a blend of all the skills and knowledge I’ve gained in previous positions and through my freelance work. It’s been a blast!

I’m happy to finally settle into a role that I can see myself growing in for the long term. I’ve learned a ton, but there’s plenty more knowledge to gain, and I’ve been a sponge soaking it all up! I’m excited for what the future holds.

On the Blog

My blog has always been a fun place for me to share relevant content in my life. Now more than ever, it’s gotten personal with me sharing my pregnancy journey as I navigate this wild unknown. I’m thankful that I have a space I can share my thoughts, whether informative or fun. And more importantly, I’m thankful for you for reading! I’m always shocked that anyone is remotely interested in anything I put out into the world, let alone the deepest thoughts of my brain. So a huge thank you to you!

After Hours: My Freelance Work

It’s crazy to think I’ve been freelancing in some way, shape, or form for four years now. What started as a passion project to share my career journey has turned into a full-on side hustle, and I love it. I love writing about pretty much everything, from career-focused content to fun lifestyle pieces.

Late last year, I was published in one of my favorite online platforms: Career Contessa, a career site built exclusively for women. It’s a resource I’ve turned to time and time again throughout my career, so I was so happy to finally contribute to the conversation by writing for their site.

In addition to Career Contessa, I’ve shared my debt journey with The Financial Diet and started contributing content to The Everyday Real.

I’m thrilled to be expanding my portfolio and growing as a writer. Here’s a look at the pieces I’ve contributed so far this year:
